California signed a bill to extend health care benefits to illegal immigrants

.

Following is a summary of the Breitbart article California Gives Green Light to Heath Care for Illegal Aliens:

California is a first state to offer taxpayer-funded health care benefits to low income adult illegal immigrants residing in the United States.

Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed a bill into law which would allow all adults under the age of 25 to receive state Medicaid benefits regardless of their immigration status.

Officials claim that the plan should cost taxpayers $98 million to cover 90,000 people, with the state already covering children 18 and younger through the state’s Medicaid plan.  [Note it is unclear how they arrived at those numbers.  The population of California is almost 40 million, and 90 thousand is only 0.2% of the population.  Government agencies generally grossly underreport the number of illegal immigrants living in the United States, and the benefits being offered will draw many new illegal immigrants to the state.]

[Note a WGNTV report which the article links to also explains that many illegal immigrants are already enrolled in government-funded programs arount the country that cover emergencies and pregnancies.]

Governor Newsom has been advocating for the policy for a long time, and he along with the Democrat controlled legislature intends to further expand the state’s Medicare coverage to more adults over the next few years.

In this Fox News video Tomi Lahren explains the situation of California deciding to give taxpayer funded health care benefits to illegal immigrants.

President Trump said, “It’s crazy what they’re doing.  It’s crazy.  And it’s mean, and it’s very unfair to our citizens.  And we’re going to stop it, but we may need an election to stop it.”

The Republican California Senator Jeff Stone said, “We are going to be a magnet that is going to further attract people to a state of California that’s willing to write a blank check to anyone that wants to come here.  We are doing a disservice to citizens who legally call California their home.”
