“Open carry” gun rights activists are usually self-defeating, and they are often “controlled opposition” who actually wish to outlaw guns
Running Time: 1 minute

I saw this article a while ago that shows how the militant [(but covertly Establishment controlled)] Black Panthers demonstrated at the California Statehouse in 1967 while carrying shotguns and handguns, which frightened the public enough for the “Mulford Act” to be enacted in that State which prohibited the open carrying of loaded firearms, and ultimately it led to California having the most restrictive gun laws in America with it also serving as a model for other States to follow.

I’m a staunch gun rights supporter, however I’m not interested in “gun culture” and I think that open carrying of guns (as opposed to concealed carrying) in public places is usually not appropriate, so I think it is fine that open carrying of guns in public is generally not legal.

In fact, as the above video and article presumably illustrate, laws which allow open carrying of guns are often exploited by anti-gun activists to try to frighten the populace into outlawing gun ownership altogether.

In Texas it was recently made legal to openly carry handguns where it was previously not allowed.  However I think it is interesting that they were able to reverse that law while apparently not being able to reverse other concerns of conservative people.
