This video demonstrates the effectiveness of an Iron Age sword being used against a Bronze Age sword, including showing how the swords were created.



“Rise of the Iron Age — Mankind: The Story of All of Us”
running time 45 minutes
This History Channel documentary details what happened during the Iron Age between 1,200 BC and 100 AD.  Among the topics it explains are the sacking of Mediterranean civilizations by the mysterious “Sea Peoples” bringing an end of the Bronze Age, metalworkers discovering how they could use plentiful iron intead of bronze to make metal, many Chinese inventions being introduced such as cast iron technology and crossbow weapons, and the advent of many modern religions such as Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism.



“The History of Iron and Steel”

This video explains the technologies of iron and steel, which are related to each other.



“Persia’s Forgotten Empire (Persepolis)”
running time 50 minutes
Persepolis, which is located in present day Iran, was the richest city at the time in 500 BC.  The city was the biggest adversary of ancient Greece, and it existed almost a thousand years before the area was subjugated by Islam.  This documentary recreates what the city looked like at the time and it explains how it was attacked and destroyed by Greece in 330 BC.




In 1950, a body was discovered in a peat bog in Denmark, with it being determined to have been submerged in the bog thousands of years earlier during the Iron Age between 375 and 210 BC.  The body had a rope around its neck and it was determined that he was hanged.

The low-oxygen environment of peat bogs naturally preserves any bodies that they might contain, and in Denmark more that 500 bog bodies and skeletal remains dating to the Iron Age have been found.

The body had been named Tollund Man and it is displayed in the Silkeburg Museum in Denmark, although only the head is original.



“The Tale Of Tollund Man- Digital Story”

This video summarizes the story of the Tollund Man, who was killed and buried in a Danish peat bog during the Iron Age.

This interesting video shows how an accurate digital reconstruction was made of the “Tollund Man” who was buried in a Danish bog over 2000 years ago.



“The Mystery Of The Bog Mummies”
running time 30 minutes
This documentary talks about the famous Iron Age “bog bodies” of Tollund Man in Denmark, Old Croghan Man in Ireland, and Clonycavan Man which is also in Ireland.  Tollund man was hanged, while Old Croghan Man and Clonycavan Man were killed by stabbing.  The documentary explains evidence that all three of the killings were performed as human sacrifices at the time.




“A History of Britain - Celts and Romans (800 BC - 1 AD)”
running time 1 hour, 15 minutes
This Hisocrat video explains the rise of iron technology in Britain and the changes it brought to its society, culminating with the Romans attempting to invade the island for the first time in 54 BC.

This video demonstrates the construction of a traditional Iron Age roundhouse in Britain.
