Alicia Gali is a woman who was jailed for eight months in Dubai, UAE in 2008 due to her being drugged, beaten, and raped at the hotel where she was a manager.

Gali had awakened to discover that she had been attacked and raped while passed out, and she immediately reported the assault to the local police, however her attackers testified in court that the sex was consensual and no evidence could be provided that a rape had actually occurred.  Shockingly then, Gali and her attackers were all sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for having an extramarital sexual relationship, with Gali being released after serving eight months.
