Biden is still not using a Defense Department database to vet Afghans with potential terrorism ties

by Edward Ulrich, September 10, 2022

.

Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is continuing to not screen Afghan arrivals to the United States for potential terrorism ties through the Department of Defense’s “tactical database,” while he is pushing to put more than 85,000 on a fast track to American citizenship.

Following is a summary of a May 27, 2022 Breitbart article:

— Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security is still not screening Afghan arrivals to the U.S. for potential terrorist ties through the Departments of Defense’s “tactical database,” as reported in a letter to the FBI by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Rob Portman (R-OH), and James Inhofe (R-OK).

— In August of 2021, Biden opened a refugee pipeline for tens of thousands of Afghans to immediately be flown into the U.S. without being screened or interviewed in person beforehand, and they have now been distributed across the country.

— Breitbart News previously reported that a Department of Defense (DOD) Inspector General report shows that Biden’s agencies failed to properly vet Afghans arriving in the U.S., and 50 Afghans in the U.S. have already been identified for “significant security concerns,” being flagged for possible terrorist ties; however most of them have already disappeared into the nation’s interior.  The report says that only three of the Afghans who were flagged for such concerns months ago could be located.

— A Project Veritas report also explains that the Biden administration has likely resettled Afghans who are listed on the federal government’s “Terrorism Watch List” across communities in the U.S.

A government insider is saying suspected terrorists are walking freely in the U.S. after Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan

This video by Project Veritas explains that a source inside the federal government is saying that many suspected terrorists identified by the Department of Homeland Security are now roaming freely in the United States, due to Biden’s evacuation of Afghans in what the Biden administration is calling “Operation Allies Welcome.”

— In their letter to the FBI, senators Chuck Grassley, Rob Portman, and James Inhofe wrote the following (Emphasis added):

On May 4, 2022, DOD officials informed us that they provided the FBI with a spreadsheet containing information on all the Afghan evacuees flagged as potentially significant security concerns.  DOD also indicated that, while DHS continues to parole additional Afghans into the United States, DHS is still not using DOD’s tactical database to screen Afghans for derogatory information.

Since Afghan parolees are no longer being housed on military bases, DOD no longer has a force protection mandate to carry out the additional screening that would better protect our homeland security.

DHS’s failure to use every database to screen for derogatory information has caused a serious breach of homeland security.  Accordingly, we request that you provide us with information about those evacuees flagged by DOD and steps the FBI has taken to adjudicate their derogatory information, including locating individuals currently within the United States.

“... we would like to know how the FBI is addressing the counterterrorism threat posed by Afghan parolees that have not been screened by DHS against the tactical database.”

— Earlier this month DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas denied during congressional testimony that the Biden administration has resettled unvetted Afghans with terrorist ties throughout the U.S., claiming, “We consider there to be infirmities in that report — factual inaccuracies ... I know that there are a number of factual inaccuracies in that report.”

— Biden is currently asking Congress to authorize the resettlement of Afghans in the U.S. over the next decade, also putting the more than 85,000 already in the country on a fact track to citizenship, with the plan also being supported by such Republican Senators as Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and Rob Portman of Ohio.
